Wurlitzer Deluxe
Paper collage with clear acrylic; 52 x 40” Purchase: Barra Foundation Art Acquisition Fund, 1989
Ron Linder had just hit his artistic prime when, at 48 years of age, death overcame him. Having been recognized by a rapidly growing list of Purchase Awards, Best in Show Awards, and First Prizes at institutions and other artistic venues in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, his works were finding their way into collections, especially corporate, throughout the Philadelphia area and beyond. In the case of Wurlitzer Deluxe, it was purchased directly from Linder out of Woodmere Art Museum’s 1989 Annual Juried Exhibition. The artist has created an image that is at once appealing and nostalgic. Above all, however, the subject matter provides a perfect opportunity to showcase his unique technique of covering collage and with streams of pure acrylic, bringing forth a brilliant explosion of color.
